TGAC - The Genome Analysis Centre

The Genome Analysis Centre is furthering the UK’s capacity in genomics - the science of understanding the genetic makeup of organisms and the genetic differences that exist between individuals.

5th EPSO (European Plant Science Organisation) Conference “Plants for Life”

TGAC are one of the sponsors at the forthcoming 5th EPSO Conference “Plants for Life” taking place in Finland, 18 to 22 April 2010.  The conference will showcase high quality plant research, bringing together key plant scientists from academia, industry and policy-makers from Europe and around the world who will present and discuss cutting-edge science, plant science policy and societal issues that are challenges for tomorrow’s agriculture.  We will be exhibiting at the Conference from Monday 19 April – Wednesday 20 April.

Quality Award for The Genome Analysis Centre and Genome Enterprise Ltd

Following an assessment by an independent body, The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) and Genome Enterprise Ltd (GEL) have been awarded ISO 9001 certification. This certification has only been achieved by about 5% of UK businesses and this prestigious award is supported by the Government and recognised world-wide

TGAC Capacity and Capability Challenge

TGAC’s Capacity and Capability Challenge (CCC) offers UK researchers the opportunity to engage with the Centre’s new sequencing and bioinformatics facilities through its early access research programme.  Commencing January 2010 and running for 12-18 months, the CCC will deliver a series of innovative projects addressing not only biological research problems but also technical challenges to sequencing and associated informatics.

Collaborative proposals involving academic and industrial partners are welcome under the CCC, as are links to established sequencing and bioinformatics centres worldwide.  Sequencing funded by existing BBSRC research grants can also be directed through the programme.

NOTE: Companies wishing to secure sequencing directly from TGAC on a fee-for-service basis should not apply to the programme, but should contact the TGAC Business Development Director to discuss requirements.
